EDITORIAL: Thandie Newton gets it. She’s putting out a warning. If you can’t name names, it’s the next best thing. At least let young people know what can happen and what they shouldn’t agree to.
Thandie’s story here shows how the executives of the entertainment industry use their position and influence to make actors and actresses do things they’re uncomfortable doing. It also shows how these predators will use any situation they can to sexually exploit the young people looking to get into the entertainment and media industries. If they don’t go along, it will mean their careers will suffer or end completely.
This also shows how they will take their trophies, won from exploiting someone, and share them with each other. This is a horrifying violation of Thandie’s privacy and expectations for the results of an employment interview. It is more than just unprofessional. This violates both civil and criminal laws.
Anyone anywhere who has made an audition video where a sexual scene has been played out needs to be concerned about this same thing happening. These elitist pigs play out their sick sexual fantasies using unsuspecting partners who would never consent if they knew. There is no such thing as consent in Hollywood if you want a job there.
God Bless you and yours, Thandie. Your story WILL save lives. Truth always does!
Thandie Newton reveals she was sexually abused by male director at audition
‘One person will read this and it will stop them getting sexually abused by a director. That’s the person I’m interested in’
