Reality TV star Farrah Abraham has alleged that she was raped, drugged and abused by porn star James Deen, leaving her so traumatized that she has undergone intensive therapy.
Farrah, who appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom, claimed in an exclusive interview with Daily Mail Online that Deen was ‘abusive, pushy and manipulative’ over several months in 2013 when they were casually dating.
The 24-year-old is the eighth woman to come forward over a week with accusations of rape and sexual assault against 29-year-old Deen, arguably the world’s most famous male porn star who was on the edge of a crossover to the mainstream.
Farrah told Daily Mail Online: ‘James Deen raped me for his benefit of fame. He conspired against me with others that I thought were my friends at the time and that was very hurtful.
‘I let it all go and I wanted to move on; due to the public and others in the media believing an abusive womanizer, sex addict, disgusting, unprofessional, adult entertainer’s lies.’
Farrah did not want to elaborate on exactly when the alleged assault by Deen occurred and under what circumstances, but it is clear from the X-rated tape that Farrah was an eager participant in sex acts with him during its making.
James Deen, whose real name is Bryan Sevilla, has not yet responded to Daily Mail Online’s request for comment on Abraham’s allegations.
Farrah never went to the police with her rape allegations and instead claims she handled the matter privately with her lawyers, she told Daily Mail Online.
‘This has already been privately taken care of and still, and always is, consistently being monitored by my legal team,’ Farrah said.
Farrah, whose memoir about life as a teen mom made the New York Times’ bestsellers’ list in 2012, first met Deen in Los Angeles around three years ago.
‘I met James Deen because of a manager and a friend at the time who was in the porn industry. She had known [him] way longer than I even knew about,’ she said.
‘She felt comfortable with him. He was very much on his best behavior for the two to three times I met him before I was comfortable.’
Farrah said she was unable to reveal the manager’s name due to a lawsuit the reality star later brought against her.
Daily Mail Online can identify Gina Rodriguez, of GR Media, as Farrah’s manager at the time. The pair ended their professional relationship in 2013. It’s unclear if Farrah was referring to Rodriguez.
A spokesperson for Rodriguez told Daily Mail Online: ‘The story Farrah is telling is completely false and defamatory. Gina did not introduce Farrah and James, she met him through the company she made her video with.
‘Gina has never worked with James when she was in the adult industry for the brief time she was in.
‘She barely knows James, she has only spoken to him on a few occasions. She was never sued by Farrah, so all her claims as usual are false.’
Farrah, a single mom, says that initially she found Deen to be an easy-going, nice guy.
‘I was dating him, getting to know him, it wasn’t like we were in-depth. I don’t live in LA so I was going between Miami and Iowa and LA,’ she said.
‘He said, “I do adult films for a living, I’m single, I’m just hanging out and I would really like to get to know you more.”
‘I was a naïve 21-year-old, my conversations were about getting to know someone, figuring him out.
‘I was just hanging out with him. He would take me out, drive me around, like any other possible girlfriend.
‘We would always hang out and be out publicly. There’s public pictures of us, holding hands, being boyfriend, being girlfriend.
‘James was so kind and so nice at first. I’m very specific about the guys I don’t like and what I’m not okay with. I don’t like people who smoke and have tattoos.
‘He acted like he didn’t smoke for a while but about the third time we hung out, he was smoking, acting more like his real self. He was putting on a show for me.’
She initially found Deen – a hot commodity in the adult film industry with his ‘boy-next-door’ looks and nicknamed ‘the Ryan Gosling of porn’ – to be attractive.
Farrah admitted she was curious about him and ‘did have fantasies’ – although she was clear with the porn star about her limits.
‘He told me, “the girls I work with are great” but I actually asked him to not talk about that because I wasn’t interested in it and I wasn’t attracted to his career,’ Farrah said.
‘I was very clear. It’s great that he has his job and his career but I’m not interested in that.
‘I don’t know if he tried to bring up other women to maybe seduce me, to see if I was up for other things with him. But I was not into any of those things.
‘If I wanted to have sex with him that was for my personal fantasy or for my private life.’
She added: ‘I’ve had sex with other celebrities and it’s ok to have fantasies. At the time I was 21, I was very vulnerable and I was going through a lot of s*** in my life.
‘I thought he was attractive at the time. Do I think he’s attractive now? No.’
However there were moments when Farrah said she was unnerved by Deen’s forceful behavior.
She said: ‘There’s one thing I’ll never forget. He picked me up at a hotel when I was staying and I was like, “Can you come to my room because I can’t get my dress shut.” It zipped in the back and I couldn’t reach it. He said, “Yeah sure.”
‘I’m not one to f*** the first time or second time, it really takes me a while to have sex with someone.
‘But he came in the room and he thought I wanted him to f*** me. He was trying to take off my dress rather than zip up my dress.’
Farrah said the incident made her want to escape the hotel room as quickly as possible.
‘Because of that weird altercation with him, I said “we need to leave and get out of here”. I had to push him out of my hotel room because he was so pushy.
‘That stuck in my mind, like wow, he must really be pushy with other women.’
And Deen’s aggressive pursuit of the reality star on that occasion was not an isolated incident, she said.
‘He tried to have sex with me on every occasion that we hung out. He was being so pushy and that didn’t come across too well.’
Despite her misgivings, Farrah decided that she trusted Deen and wanted to make a sex tape with him as a personal memento to celebrate her sexuality.
She told Entertainment Tonight in May 2013: ‘A lot of my girlfriends who are back home have done personal sexy shots, sexual videos, feminine things, showing their sexuality and being happy for themselves.
‘Here I am the same age or younger as most of my friends, and I’m like “Why am I not [as] happy with myself as they are? Why am I not doing this for me?”‘
The sex tape was made at the home of James Deen’s friend in Los Angeles, with no producer or director present, Farrah says.
She said: ‘James had construction going on at his home so the sex tape was made at his friend’s house. I knew his friends, we hung out.’
Farrah has long maintained that she never intended for the sex tape to be made public. She chose Deen as a partner because he was a professional adult entertainment star and presumably understood the need to protect her privacy as a public figure.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in May 2013, she said: ‘I was under the belief [that filming with Deen] would help better protect me and my privacy. I was like, ‘If this guy is so professional, and everything is going to be fine, then I was like, “I’m happier with this choice.”‘
But after allegedly finding out her sex tape was about to be leaked, Farrah claimed that in a bid to take back control she sold the video to Vivid Entertainment (the company behind the sex tape which propelled Kim Kardashian to fame).
Farrah reportedly made a six-figure sum from the adult film, Farrah Superstar: Backdoor Teen Mom.
After the sex tape’s release, Farrah has spoken about the emotional turmoil she suffered. In January 2014, she told In Touch magazine that she deeply regretted her foray into adult films.
‘It made it hard to have friends and a private life and to trust family, who I feel use me for money,’ she said. ‘If I went back in time, I would not have done it. The sex tape ruined my life.’
A month later she told the magazine that she was a rape survivor. She never revealed the identity of who she claimed victimized her.
‘I was drugged and raped more than once. I allowed thetype of people into my life,’ she said.
But for the first time this week, Farrah told Daily Mail Online that her alleged attacker was James Deen.
When asked directly if James Deen had raped her, she responded: ‘From my intensive therapy, yes. Under my doctor and everything that I’ve been through, that is what has gone on.’
She detailed how she has been left scarred, both physically and emotionally.
She said: ‘I had some bruises. I feel like he’s not aware of how his grips will be, how things will be, and other women have voiced this already.
‘I’m lucky I didn’t date him for a long period of time and I’m lucky that I didn’t let him physically beat me because I’m sure that’s what they [other women] had to deal with.
‘Deen said at that time he didn’t do drink or drugs. But clearly I was drugged, and my legal staff and my therapist know that.
‘I don’t know if he just drugged women to take advantage of them or what was going on.
‘I experienced extreme anger problems and abusive behavior from Deen. He treated me like he wanted to break me and ruin my career as a reality star-celebrity, as many witnessed.
‘I no longer wanted to be around him.’
James Deen has previously denied Farrah’s allegations that the sex tape was made to be kept private. He told Playboy magazine in 2013 that it was part of an elaborate plan by Farrah’s team.
But Farrah insists that Deen deeply betrayed her trust after they made a private tape for her own use.
‘After the last time he kissed me and dropped me off, he was so quick to call and set-up interviews,’ she said.
‘I tried to talk to him on the phone and you know what he said to me? “Oh, would you like to have a cup of tea?” and just laughed about it.
‘I was lied to by him and he doesn’t give a s*** about anyone but himself.’
She claims that Deen set out to ruin her reputation and career by exposing the sex tape.
‘It was a set-up against me by James Deen. I can only talk about my situation, I can’t talk about anyone else’s.
‘I got dropped from MTV’s Teen Moms back when all this happened, a show I created and starred in.
‘He conspired what he did with me, this is the truth. The rape victims coming forward are telling the truth as well. They would have no reason to be lying or defamatory in what they’re saying.
‘I’m thankful that I have separated myself and gotten beyond how horrible, evil, abusive and a rapist James Deen is.
‘He was very jealous and said derogatory things about me, calling me a porn star. I’m not used to that world.
‘I feel every time someone calls me a porn star, it’s like them, to me, seeming like a rapist and a derogatory, abusive womanizing manipulator like James Deen.
‘I’m saying that because that’s how it made me feel – because I also have amazing friends who are porn stars and I’m proud of them.’
Three years on, Farrah said she is only just coming to terms with her ordeal following intensive therapy.
She said: ‘I can no longer live in shock, so scared and lying to myself.
‘I’ve had so much intensive therapy since, some seen on VH1’s Couples Therapy.
‘I’ve learned and I need to admit [what happened] – this was conspired, this was a form of rape.
‘I was drugged and manipulated. He’s a disgusting person.’
The 24-year-old said that the therapy has allowed her to move forward in life.
‘I’m very thankful, I’ve been recovering and very accepting of my therapy. That’s something very big for me because normally, I don’t admit those things.’
The accusations against Deen began last week when his ex-girlfriend Stoya took to Twitter saying: ‘James Deen held me down and f***ed me while I said no, stop, used my safe word. I just can’t nod and smile when people bring him up anymore.’
That was quickly followed by two other accusations, one from ex-porn star Tori Lux who claims he violently hit her and held her to his crotch on set and then from adult film actress Ashley Fires, who says he tried to rape her in the shower on one occasion.
Porn star Amber Rayne revealed to The Daily Beast that after she called Deen a ‘b****’ during a shoot, he had anal sex with her so violently that she bled and needed stitches.
Porn actress Kora Peters also told The Daily Beast that she refused anal sex during one shoot but that Deen shoved her face into a sofa and forced himself on her.
Another unnamed woman told the LAist she was raped by Deen as a crowd watched inside a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.
Porn actress Nicki Blue, also told Daily Mail Online in an exclusive interview that Deen raped her with a beer bottle in an off-camera attack at a wrap party.
Another one of Deen’s ex-girlfriends, porn star Joanna Angel who he dated for six years until 2010, angrily blasted him on Twitter saying, ‘He’s dead on the inside and dead to me. He’s literally the worst person I’ve ever met.’
Two other adult entertainers, Lily LaBeau and Bonnie Rotten, both of whom have worked with Deen on a number of occasions, told Buzzfeed that he seemed to enjoy goading them and pushed boundaries to the extreme.
Deen has not responded to a number of requests for comment from publications. His only response was tweeted on November 29,: ‘There have been some egregious claims made against me on social media. I want to assure my friends, fans and colleagues that these allegations are both false and defamatory. I respect women and I know and respect limits both professionally and privately.’
Farrah said that she stands in solidarity with other alleged victims.
‘Stoya, Tori, Ashley, Angel – all of these great women who are so strong and I’m so proud of them for coming forward and my solidarity is with them. I feel so bad for those women,’ she said.
‘And everything else that I’ve seen in the adult entertainment industry and the hurt that those women go through. I don’t feel that it’s right how some of those men act.’
On November 30, Farrah tweeted: ‘I’m not going to say ‘I TOLD YOU SO’ but I’m to busy for Rapists’ #weakAreStrong #speakout #slutwalk
She explained that the message was about moving forward with her life after James Deen.
‘I no longer need to feel I’m locked down and let this rule my life – I’m too f****** busy for this.
‘The weak are strong – we don’t understand how strong of a person we are until we go through so much s***.
‘And I’m glad that celebrities like Amber Rose, with her SlutWalk, and myself, and many others are speaking nationally to this. This is where I feel I can help the world, by sharing this.
‘I almost lost everything I built in my career because of James Deen and I had so many hurtful things in my life to deal with. No one needs their life to be ruined the way he ruined mine.’
